Scouting provides Samiel with new experiences!

Samiel
Dear Chris and Emily, Ryan, Ramesh, Matt & Alison, David, Tom, Holly, Peter, Paloma, and Elena,

Samiel is in 5th grade and is from the Skyway area near Renton.  Sports have been Samiel’s main way of staying active and out of trouble.  However, because of his brother’s involvement in his community’s Eritrean dance group, he has now been looking for ways to branch out and become more involved.

Because of donors like you, we have started Scouting activities with Samiel’s dance group.  He is now learning what it means to love the outdoors, become service-minded and learn new skills.  Samiel is also learning important leadership skills which his dance group leaders say will help him and his friends become the next group of community leaders.

Thank you for helping boys like Samiel learn the skills necessary to lead!

Blake has Learned Knife Safety Skills!

Black SYI
Dear Rob, Ron, Alejandro, Leo, Lowry, Luke and Ani, Michael, Rachel, Tom, Ben, Paul, Cole, Kyle, Sung, Chris, Paul, Brian, Rachel, Esther, Manuel, and Steve,

Blake joined Soccer and Scouting almost a year ago with hopes of learning to play soccer and for the opportunity to go camping.  Since then, he has gone to every single meeting.  On a trip to the police station during the summer, Blake learned all about what police officers do, and decided he wanted to be one when he grew up.

Blake who is the second of two boys, is raised by his single mother.  Her job doesn’t pay well, and it is often a struggle just to put food on the table.  Blake heard about pocket knives one day, but because he didn’t have a book, he couldn’t earn his  knife carrying card.  Thanks to you, Blake has a Wolf handbook of his very own, and is able to partake in a year of Soccer and Scouting! His lessons learned in Boy Scouts will impart on him values to succeed!

Brandon seeks Scouting challenges!

Brandon
Dear Kandace, Timothy, Peter, Gayle, and Ian,

Brandon is 14 years old and is a soccer player and enthusiast.  His father has coached before, which has helped build his love for the game.  Hanging out with friends and staying active in sports has always been a focus for Brandon for much of his life.

Thanks to your efforts, Brandon was able to get involved with Soccer and Scouting. Brandon had never experienced the type of unique activities Scouting provides, like hiking, camping, outdoor skills and the like. This program was able to mesh Brandon’s interests while building the good characteristics Scouting focuses on.

Brandon now aspires to attend a session at the National Outdoor Leadership School and enhance the skills and activities he’s experienced through Scouting. Thank you for helping provide these opportunities to boys like Brandon.

Ermias experiences Scouting for the 1st time!

Ermias @ Camp Pigott
Dear holly and Larry,

Ermias is in the 4th grade and his family is from Eritrea, a small country in East Africa.  He loves soccer and basketball, and even gets in some skateboarding from time to time.  To connect with his home culture, he is involved in an Eritrean Dance Group based out of Seattle, a group that recently created their own Scout unit.

The dance group is a way for Ermias to meet other youth from his country, as well as socialize, have fun and learn about his heritage.  Now, Ermias is able to participate in Scouting activities with his dance group, like at the outing he experienced this past summer at Camp Pigott.  The climbing wall was one of his favorite activities!

Thanks to you, we will be able to provide Scouting opportunities throughout the year for Ermias.  He is already looking forward to next year’s summer camp!

Brian Is Moving Forward!

Brian SYI

Dear Rob, Kandace, Marc, Mark & Lynn, Peter & Kim, Pradeep, Daryl, Laurent, Scott, and Ryan,

Brian’s family immigrated from Mexico and like many Mexican kids, Brian loves soccer.  It was soccer that brought Brian to the program, but Scouting has been the reason he has stayed.  Shortly after his first week of soccer, Brian decided to go to summer camp.  He loved every moment of it, and ever since, has decided to go to every Scout meeting and on every outing.

Unfortunately, Brian hasn’t been able to advance due to the fact that he couldn’t afford his Scout book and Scouting tuition.  Thanks to Rob, Brian has now started on the trail to earning his Wolf badge with the handbook he just received, and is looking forward to the day when he will one day receive his Eagle Scout award.

Thanks to Kandace, Marc, Mark & Lynn, Peter & Kim, Pradeep, Daryl, Laurent, Scott, and Ryan for supporting a full year of the Soccer and Scouting program and helping Brian to work toward his Wolf Badge!

His motivation to succeed in the program will carry out to his drive to do well in all areas of life.
